Getting married

May we congratulate you and wish you a long and happy marriage. Whilst we are most sincere in this wish for you, unfortunately it is important to make provision for the consequences of a divorce.

Marriage is a contract and the law has thus far come up with three options to govern the contract or (in fancy legal terminology), the matrimonial regime. These are:

In community of property.
Out of community of property excluding the operation of the accrual system. Ante- nuptial contract (ANC).
Out of community of property including the operation of the accrual system. Ante- nuptial contract (ANC).

It is adviseable to discuss these options with your lawyer before getting married. He/she will then upon your instructions draw up the required documentation and attend to the formalities.
