Getting rid of judgements

You live in a world that requires that the more credit references you, have the easier it is to be granted credit. So off you go and buy all sorts of things on credit. Hard times surface, you can't keep up and   make an arrangement to pay, you meet your obligations. Then you apply for a bond, try to buy a car etc. and are told that you are blacklisted, so no credit.

You make enquiries and find that you have a Judgement againts you. What then.

In most cases in order to have the Judgement removed you have to meet certain criteria:

  • You must satisfy a court that you did not recieve a summons or if you have, explain why you did not do anything about it.

  • Do something about it within 20 days of knowledge of the Judgement first having come to your attention.

  • Explain your defence, ie. why you don't owe the money or that you had entered into some arragement to pay it off.

BUT you can now, with the creditors co-operation, get rid of it quite easily, provided that it is a Judgement granted by the Magistrates Court. Consult your Lawyer.

A Judgement has very serious consequences, amongst others, you will not get any credit to by a house, cell phone contract, get a credit card, clothing account and so on. In some cases it can be set aside and your credit worthiness can be restored..
